Gelino-is a Turkish word, meaning bride. This term has entered Georgian language approximately in 17-th century. Gelino is also a song, which is mainly performed by Georgians, who live in Turkey. Its performed by parents, who hope, that the brides wont desert their native hearth. We have chosen a title of the movie exactly in this context, because Muhajirs(immigrants) from Georgia dont forget about their home country. This expedition organized by TV Corporation Mze, is unprecedented. The Georgian villages in the middle of Turkey were filmed for the first time. Local population has retained the ancient Georgian language and style of speaking. Youll realize how our ancestors have been speaking while listening to them. Georgian TV viewers have seen three historic places from film Gelino for the first time. They are monastery of Sumela, fortress Iedikule and the golden domed tower of Baghdad. a Georgian singer Baiar Shahin Gundaridze, who lives in Turkey, is one of the main heroes of film "Gelino". This singer and his songs were unknown for Georgian society before they saw the movie. But nowadays, Gelino is sang in many places. The singer himself visited Tbilisi several times and his concerts were extremely successful. Several days ago, students from Tbilisi State University and pupils from some Tbilisi schools organized a special meeting for the singer and members of the expedition. Time will pass and this documentary film becomes a valuable historical document, because Georgian traces slowly disappear in Turkey. The population migrates to other territories, and they slowly forget their native language. The historic places are ruined.
